             Let’s talk about it.

This is the new sermon series we have started and we are going to talk about Love, Sex and Marriage. Sex is a sacred act created by God for married couples. It is a beautiful thing but can become very dangerous when done outside its barriers.

On Sunday, we looked sexual immorality. In 1 Corinthians 6 we read the letter that Apostle Paul wrote to the church of Corinth on sexual immorality. Sexual immorality involves adultery, sex before marriage, watching pornography, homosexuality, incest, beastiallity and masturbation. Sexual immorality tends to tear people down and separates us from God. Before we do anything we should ask ourselves: “Is this beneficial?”

Another question we should ask ourselves is, “Does what I am about to do have the potential of enslaving me?” Lust and addictions enslave us because they become all that we can think about which creates a barrier between us and God and we result in forgetting him. Romans 6:12-14 tells us not to let sin rule our bodies and we should not obey its desires or become a slave of evil, after all our bodies are meant to die.

Sexual immorality is very dangerous because it is a sin that is done inside the body. We are supposed to honour our bodies because they are a part of the body of Christ as it says in 1 Corinthians 6:15. We should honour our bodies because they are the temple of the Holy Spirit and the dwelling place of God. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 explains to us how the Holy Spirit lives in us and that God paid a great price for our bodies and so we should honour them.

We as Christians should flee away from sexual immorality and pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to not obey our selfish desires as it says in Galatians 5:16-25.
