This sermon is about the final destination, heaven.
What will heaven look like?
- We need to keep in mind that heaven is a real place.
- When we die there is no intermediate place, we go straight to Christ in heaven, however that is not where we will dwell for eternity.
- The word of God in Revelations 21:1-3 says that there will be a new heaven and new earth, which is where we will stay for eternity with God.
- The first heaven and first earth will pass away to remove imperfections, Hebrews 12:26 says, “At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” “
- Jesus Christ will live with us in the new earth.
- Heaven will be a place of light and joy.
- Heaven will be a place of no death nor pain. We will not have our sinful nature.
- It will be a place of reunion, we will be able to recognise the people we knew on earth, even the people who were mentioned in the Bible. Matthew 17:3-4 says this, “Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” ”
- There won’t be envy between people who receive less rewards and those who receive more rewards.
King David writes in Psalm 16:11, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Heaven will be a place of pleasure forever. Heaven will not be boring!
